I just returned from a short girls weekend with three of my closest, dearest friends in the world. All moms, we met when our children were preschoolers and in elementary school. Now too many years later our children are grown adults.
Our stories as mom are pretty typical, not because we are perfect and some of our children are achievers, but for the struggles and sheer heartbreak we have endured at times in our individual journeys.
If you woke up this morning, posted on FB that your child has yet another scholarship offer to a well known university, or was named this or that, congratulations! If your child is well like, runs in a great circle of supportive friends, huzzah! Wonderful! If you have a family full of both parents, grandparents and even great grandparents, we are happy for you. Really.
However, if you woke up this morning and were barely able to place your feet on the floor in anticipation of the day’s challenges, this is for you. If your child is struggling with grades, drugs, alcohol or fitting in… or your child is sick, you are loved and welcome in this place. If you have no mother or father for whatever reason on this earth and are walking blindly through the parenting journey, you are loved and welcome in this place. Or if you’re a child with no mom—heck we’ll be your mom. Consider yourself adopted.
This is a place to feel comfortable, vulnerable, relaxed and hopefully empowered by love and support for you.
